In the 1990's, Deborah Mayes heard Bob Shank
speak at a conference
and decided that she
wanted to participate
in !e Master's
Program. After listening
to him speak again
at Biola University a
few years later, she approached
him again
about the program.
She was excited to hear
that a Master's for
women had been established, and she jumped at
the chance to be a part of it.
Understanding Her Strengths
When Sue Foster went through the Partner's
Program, she discovered that her strengths allowed
her the freedom to
pursue a variety of ministry
roles. Being involved with
many diverse projects at the
same time was something
Sue realized was part of the
person God made her to be.
For many years, Sue wondered
if her distinct interests were a sign of inadequacy,
but her time in the Partner's Program allowed
her to appreciate her varied gifts and to
employ them in the wide-ranging roles she has for
the Kingdom. She embraced her gifts and interests
as God-given, and began to "run harder for
the Kingdom".
Impacted by Great Need
When John and Juliana Ditty adopted two of their
children from Eastern Europe in the early 1990's,
they realized that
they needed to act
on the needs they
saw firsthand in the
orphanages there. The Dittys founded
Global Operations
and Development
(GO&D) and Giving
Children Hope, two ministries committed to serving
children and the poor in America and abroad
by providing relief and resources. When John and
Juliana joined The Master's Program in Orange
County, they were both given the tools to discover
how they are wired, and in turn, now approach
ministry more effectively.
A Call to Ministry
Introduced to Bob Shank at a church service in
Palm Desert, Sharman and Bruce Dow were impressed
by the sermon. Equally
impressive was
the content and
timing of Bob's
letter inviting
Sharman to participate
in !e
Master's Program
for women. Successful
in her career
and having spent more than 20 years in the
field of insurance brokerage, Sharman had been
sensing that God was preparing her heart for more
spiritual growth and maturity. From the very first
meeting of The Master's Program, she knew that
she would find the direction needed to understand
where God was leading her. Sharman knew
that God was calling her to minister to women,
and it was through her time in the program that
she fully understood what this meant.
Unique Resume
Unique life experiences gave Jim and Debbie Hogan the credentials needed to excel in their current
ministry.
Both Jim and
Debbie saw
church leaders
fall in their
youth and
were turned
off to the faith
as a result. But
by their thirties,
Jim and Debbie had both committed their
lives to Christ and were passionate about their
faiths.
Maximizing the Experience
A self-described "late bloomer" to Christianity,
Pat Thomas' journey has accelerated quickly.
When her husband,
Jim, entered
The Master's
Program, Pat decided
to participate
in the Partner's
Program in order
to maximize the
experience for
them as a couple.
When they started their prospective programs, the
"blinders came off" and they realized the desire
for Kingdom signi#cance in the second half of
their lives. When they were introduced to the
DreamMaster's materials, Jim and Pat scheduled a
weekend to commit themselves to the Dream
Planning process. Although it was "one of the
hardest things [they've] ever done," they sat down,
listened to each other's dreams, and made a plan.
